The past couple of months this summer, I have been learning the ins and outs of hydroponic and aquaponic indoor farming. It has been quite the learning experience! Farming is not an easy job. I have a lot of appreciation for farmers. Being at one with the earth has felt grounding. It is just the quiet relaxing atmosphere I needed in my life right now.
The farm is located in Northern New Mexico about 45 minutes outside of Santa Fe. Thanks to the help of my farmer boss, I found myself a studio “casita” apartment about a mile away from the farm, and I have been living in it for almost two weeks now. It’s been very relaxing and joyous, being outside everyday and so close to nature. The view from my my casita shows the gorgeous vegetation and landscape leading up to the Rio Grande. I’m only about half a mile away from the Rio Grande, and all I see are trees and beauty from my studio apartment. It’s a gorgeous view to say the least. It has been very peaceful and grounding to be immersed in nature, especially during a pandemic. I’m lucky I found the farm, and the farm was lucky to find me, a fellow earth sign and earth loving Virgo. Working and being at one with the earth has never felt more healing! Now, I wake up early and go to bed early. I am eating healthier than I ever have before, and I have been getting a lot of exercise, not to mention lots of vitamin D. Working and living near a farm was the perfect decision during the beginning of the pandemic, and I’m grateful I decided to be close and to heal with the earth.
